This building was once one of three cinemas serving Walton, a reminder of the town’s vibrant entertainment history during the early and mid-20th century.
Today, the Regent on Church Street still retains its striking Art Deco interior, offering a glimpse into the golden age of cinema, when a trip to the pictures was one of the town’s most popular social occasions.
Although it no longer operates as a traditional cinema, much of the building’s original character has been carefully preserved. Inside, you’ll find walls decorated with classic film posters that celebrate the Regent’s cinematic past.
The Regent also makes an excellent place to pause during your walk. Whether you’re looking for refreshments, a comfortable seat or simply a chance to cool down, its air-conditioned interior provides a welcome break before continuing the trail.
If you are standing across the road admiring the Art Deco façade, your next stop is right behind you — St Mary’s Church, one of Walton’s oldest and most historic buildings.
