Welcome to the Walton on Thames Business Crime Partnership
What is Disc?
Disc is the online information-sharing system that’s helping all kinds of communities reduce low-level crime and anti-social behaviour.
It is a system which can be administered on a laptop or on a mobile device! Reporting is quick, simple and intuitive.
Business Improvement Districts (BIDs)
Over 100 Business Improvement Districts use Disc to reduce the impact of low-level crime and anti-social behaviour on their levy-payers’ businesses. In addition to delivering the benefits of a local crime reduction scheme to their levy-payers, Disc is ideal for sharing information about the range of BID activities with levy-payers, whilst Disc’s ‘Public Realm’ reporting system enables levy-payers and street wardens to report issues relating to the ‘public realm’, and to monitor outcomes.
Across more than 550 UK towns and city-centres, local shop watches, pub watches and Business Improvement Districts use Disc. So too do security businesses as well as some of the country’s biggest shopping malls, sports venues and places of entertainment.
Disc has been built to comply with all data protection law and best practice including the all-important GDPR concept of ‘compliance by design and default’.
Each user signs its own agreement to abide by the Terms & Conditions, to become a member of WBCP.
DISC offers a safe, secure instant messaging system, which Surrey Police see/are involved in.
What’sApp is NOT GDPR compliant and is not accepted as a tool for BIDs, Town Centres to report crime to the Police.
DISC creates a database of prolific offenders, with date/time recorded incidents which can be shared with Surrey Police for investigation and future charges/convictions.
Working together our town businesses can take control of reporting incidents, to make other businesses aware, driving down crimes as it becomes known our community is tracking unwanted visitors!
Using the Disc smartphone App or their Disc Desktop, users can:
- Access galleries of known offenders
- Submit incident reports about them, and about new offenders
- Send and receive instant messages and emailed alerts to other users about anything urgent/important
- Read alerts, important news and information about up-coming events
- Access reference or guidance documents
- Receive an automated eNewsletter
What do others say about Disc?
I can’t tell you how much I love Disc, and the information it provides for my Levy-payers. They honestly love it! Especially when I sell it as the ‘Rogues Gallery’! But all joking aside, it will be one of the best moves you can make as a BCRP. A big thank you for all the support from Disc since I’ve taken over the system.
