BYRON – A word game you have to walk to!

We would like to introduce to our followers, visitors and generally anyone online who likes word games, making habits and walking!

Byron – The word game you have to walk to – has been created by local Hersham resident Will Morrison, and was introduced to us last week. We immediately loved the concept and saw a great link to help draw footfall into our town centre .. because the game is all about walking to find and collect letters, then make as many 5-letter words as you can, including the daily word of the day.

It’s so simple, you walk (or forage) for letters, get to them, put them in your satchel (you can collect up to 14 letters at a time before your satchel is full) and then you create as many 5-letter words as your letters will allow.

There is a WORD of the day – everyday and you can either see if you have the letters in your satchel already or you HAVE to go out for a WALK to find more letters. The whole idea of BYRON is that it means walking, outside, getting fresh air, being present in your local area (or wherever you work, visit or holiday) and being active.

BYRON is already global with users in Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan and Asia. However Will is focusing on how it can become popular within its local community and that is why he reached out to Love Walton (The Walton Business Improvement District) to see if we can work together and share the benefits, the fun, the attraction of a regular activity with our community.

So guess what Will did?? He created a HALLOWEEN Byron trail for Walton-on-Thames, with a core small circuit of a letters around the town centre and close to the River Thames. This trail is running until 31st October and we encourage as many of our followers, visitors, business employees to join in, have a gone and tell us your feedback.

All you need to do is download the FREE APP onto your phone, see links below, and go out for a walk in your local neighbourhood or for the Walton Halloween Trail into the town centre. The App is recommended for 16+ years, but it is a walking game families can play together, with adults allowing their children to use to find and visit the letters, always monitoring their actions and behaviours and then encouraging their youngsters to make up the word of the day, a trail word or any other 5-letter word they can with the contents of their satchel.
