World Pizza Day: Where to Enjoy a Slice in Walton
World Pizza Day (celebrated in the UK on 9th February) is a celebration of one of the world’s most adaptable foods.
Evolving from ancient flatbreads, the modern pizza of flatbread, tomato and mozzarella is credited from Naples, Italy. Today, adopted everywhere and endlessly reinvented, pizza manages to be comforting, social, and practical all at once. It works just as well eaten at the kitchen table as it does shared with friends, folded on the go, or delivered at the end of a long day.
In Walton, we are fortunate to have plenty of choice when it comes to Pizza. Whether it’s lunch, a midweek takeaway, a family favourite, or a slice on the go, there’s no single way people enjoy it—and that’s the point.
Pizza’s appeal lies in its balance. It’s simple food that rewards care. The dough matters. The sauce matters. Heat, timing, and restraint all matter. When it’s done well, it doesn’t need explaining.
To mark World Pizza Day, here are a few local places where Walton residents can enjoy pizza in very different ways.
Basilo Pizza
A popular choice for takeaway and delivery, Basilo Pizza focuses on familiar favourites done reliably well. It’s the kind of place people return to because they know exactly what they’re getting—hot, generous pizzas that arrive when they’re supposed to. We love that they offer “Half and Half” pizzas – it stops those arguments about topping in their tracks or means you don’t have to choose between your two favourites since you can have them both!
Fireaway Pizza
Fireaway brings a faster, flame-cooked approach inspired by traditional methods but adapted for modern takeaway culture. With a menu that balances classic combinations and newer flavours, it’s become a go-to for those who want something quick without feeling careless. They often run specials (we loved the Jingle Berry pizza that featured blue cheese and cranberries), plus they offer a Build-your-own option if you want to get creative.
Olive Pizza Kitchen
Olive Pizza Kitchen is well known for its gourmet pizzas and sides. The menu includes some Chef’s Specials that are topped with Indian flavours like the Paneer Tikka or Butter Chicken Masala and Calzones. We were delighted to receive a cheeky Tuesday 20% off spending over £15.
Pizza GoGo
Pizza GoGo is the newest Pizza place in Walton and their high-quality pizzas are made with their own brand dough and locally sourced fresh ingredients. The dough made freshly on the premises every day.All toppings are Halal. They can be found in Simpson House, New Zealand Avenue. They are on most delivery platforms.
Prima Fila
For those who prefer to slow things down, Prima Fila offers a sit-down experience where pizza is part of a longer meal rather than a quick decision – whether it’s lunch or dinner. The setting encourages conversation, shared plates, and the kind of location where food is only one part of the enjoyment.
Pizza Express
The home of the famous authentic Romana pizza- made the Roman way for bigger flavour, Pizza Express is found within The Heart, on New Zealand Avenue. A family favourite for after-school, weekends and holidays, especially with the kids Piccolo menuoffers three courses and the infamous Bambinoccino! However, it is also tried and tested for date nights, catching up with friends after work or ladies who lunch, and it always has some form of ‘offer’, especially if you are a user of their APP.
Pizza Hut
Long established take-away chain Pizza Hut continues to provide offers across all delivery platforms, in particular 2-4-1 Tuesdays! They have a wide range of solo, duo or family deals and they go big on deserts too with Ben and Jerry’s Ice-cream and American Cookie Doughs to tickle the taste buds!
Tops Pizza
A favourite with delivery options, Tops Pizza in Bridge Street likes to challenge to be the best value in town, however with so many offers on for the new year at the time of writing we cannot be 100% certain. What we can be certain of, is they are full of flavour, have some many topping options from cheeseburger, to super meaty and then of course vegan! Find their menu on all delivery sites!
The Walton Village
The Walton Village have a diverse food menu, and their stone-baked pizzas and dough sticks are all made in house. All year round, they have a great option of half-size for half-price Monday-Friday lunchtimes 12-3pm, which is perfect alongside a business meeting. During February 2026, they are offering a Half-pizza plus an on-tap soft drink for just £5, then for after-work drinks or a family meal, there is a special offer Pizza and Pint for £10! Monday-Thursday 5-7pm.
Celebrate World Pizza Day
World Pizza Day isn’t about declaring a best slice or ranking toppings. It’s about recognising how a single dish can fit so many moments in everyday life. In Walton, pizza shows up quietly and consistently—feeding families, fuelling busy days, and bringing people together without much fuss.
