Local Lowdown March 2026

Script – Walton Local Lowdown March 2026

Welcome back to your Local Lowdown.

Behind the scenes, we’re already busy planning our 2026 event calendar, so here are some dates for the diary now. The Annual Duckathon returns on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May. ‘Make Music Day’ on Sunday 21st June. Walton Fayre on Saturday 4th July. The Heritage Festival runs from 11th to 20th September. Flavours of Bridge Street is set for Saturday 3rd October, and Festival of Light will brighten the town on Saturday 28th November. If you’re a local business that would like to get involved — or a musician keen to perform — drop us an email at events@waltonbid.co.uk.

As spring starts to creep in, there’s plenty happening across Walton in March.

At The Playhouse, there’s Legally Blonde The Musical, a youth production of Frozen and a Mary Poppins workshop with Dramacube.

Over at Riverhouse Barn, there’s a packed programme too, including Suddenly (a storytelling show for ages 6 plus) and the RC Sherriff Trust Talk & Silver Screen.

Walton & Hersham FC continue their season, so check out the fixtures list and head down to support the Swans.

There’s always more to discover on our What’s On page, including regular favourites like Sip & Paint with Crafty Pots, Turn Up Tuesday at the Bowling Club, and the Repair Café.

World Book Day on 5th March is the perfect excuse to pop into TG Jones, The Works, Waterstones or visit the Library to pick up your next read.

On Sunday 8th, we’ll be shining a spotlight on the incredible women who own, manage and deliver for businesses across Walton town centre as we celebrate International Women’s Day — so look out for our social media features.

We’ll also be marking World Sleep Day on the 13th over on the blog, sharing insights and ideas to help you rest a little easier.

And don’t forget, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 15th. We’re already seeing thoughtful gifts and special offers appearing around town, so remember to think local, shop local and maybe even dine local too.

Finally, to close the month, Walton Cricket Club in Ashley Park is welcoming the community to an “Access to Cricket” weekend on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th. Free spaces can be reserved on Eventbrite via the link on our What’s On page — a brilliant opportunity to get involved and give cricket a go.

In other news, we’ve commissioned an artist to create a colourful new mural inspired by Walton. We are delighted that this idea has come to fruition. It’s being funded by Surrey County Council and will be delivered by the end of March, so be sure to take a walk along Hepworth Way later in the month to see the project come to life.

We’ll be back next month on the Local Lowdown.
