Local Lowdown – January 2026

Script:

Happy New Year, Walton! Welcome back to your Local Lowdown — here’s what’s happening around town as we kick off 2026.

If your New Year’s resolutions involve getting fitter, stronger, or just moving a little more, the town centre has you covered. Walton has an incredible mix of gyms, studios and fitness specialists, all ready to help you start the year feeling good.

January also means post-Christmas sales all over the high street. And if you missed our December Small Business features, head over to the blog to meet the amazing independent businesses that make Walton such a brilliant place to shop. It’s a great moment to support your local favourites as the new year begins.

There’s plenty happening at The Playhouse this month too. Jack and the Beanstalk takes the stage on the 16th for some classic panto fun. From the 29th to the 31st, the Walton & Weybridge Amateur Operatic Society look back at 100 years in “A Century Celebrated”. And for a dose of laughter, Funny on Thames returns on the 21st with more stand-up from top talent.

Fresh starts, new routines, theatre nights and high-street discoveries — January in Walton has more going on than you might expect. Stay tuned to our socials and website for updates, and we’ll see you next month on the Local Lowdown.
