Supporting Children in Need in Walton

Every November, BBC Children in Need unites communities across the UK to raise money and awareness for children and young people facing challenges. From small acts of kindness to full-scale fundraising events, it’s a time when generosity and creativity shine — and Walton is no exception.

Our town is buzzing with activity as local shops, cafés, and restaurants rally together to support this brilliant cause. Whether you’re a business owner, a customer, or a passer-by, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a difference right here in Walton.

Rock Up Ride

The “Rock Up & Ride” event was a 600-mile charity cycle challenge that took place in October 2025 to raise money for BBC Children in Need. The Rock Up climbing centre’s senior leadership team cycled from Hull to Weston-super-Mare, visiting each of their climbing centres along the way, with public involvement welcomed to cheer them on or join for parts of the ride. They got a high five from Pudsey as they reached Rock Up Walton, before continuing their journey.

The Walton Village: Aiming to raise £3,000

The Walton Village is setting its sights on raising £3,000 for Children in Need by hosting a Charity Beer, Wine, Whiskey and Cheese Festival right across the weekend 13 – 16 November. Available will be 6 glorious cask ales, 3 craft kegs, 10 brand new wines by the glass, 10 incredible whiskies and 10 beautiful cheeses from local Green and Lovely Store, East Molesey.  £1 from every single festival product sold will be donated.

Then they are doing two very special pairing experiences:

Cheese & Whiskey Pairing Experience

Hosted by whisky-brain Ned Clark and set in candlelight, you’ll explore flavour, aroma, production and pairing notes — with a healthy mix of fascination, silliness, laughter, and serious respect for flavour. Tickets cost £45 and £5 from every ticket will be donated to Children in Need.

The Walton Village: Cheese & Wine Experience

If you’re a wine lover, you can opt for the Cheese & Wine Experience instead. The 1.5-hour tastings will guide you through 6 wines (3 red, 3 white) perfectly paired with some of the world’s finest cheeses. Tickets cost £45 and £5 from every ticket will be donated to Children in Need.

McDonalds

Their ‘top up to’ at the time of payment is for Children in Need, so it means that for every customer who rounds up, the money will go directly to Pudsey!

Other Local Businesses Doing Their Bit

Walton’s community spirit is what makes our town special. Many local businesses are coming up with creative ways to fundraise — from themed events to special promotions and donation drives. Including Omni Academy of Hair & Beauty. While not specifically for Children in Need, we noticed on Omni’s socials that they have just donated some hair to the Little Princess Charity from a client who had a drastic restyle!

Every contribution, big or small, helps make a real impact.

This year, let’s show just how generous and community-minded Walton can be. Whether you’re organising an event, attending one, or simply donating what you can, your support will help change young lives across the UK.

Keep an eye on Love Walton’s social channels for updates, photos, and ways to get involved — and don’t forget to share your own fundraising moments using @welovewalton and #ChildrenInNeed to spread the word!
