Welcome back to your Local Lowdown — your quick guide to what’s happening in Walton this October. There’s a real buzz around town this month, so let’s dive in!

First up, don’t miss our brand-new autumn event – the Flavours of Bridge Street Festival – on the 11th of October! Expect delicious food, tasty drinks, and plenty of local flavour — a treat for the senses and a brilliant day out for the whole family.

We have taken the chance to create some events to celebrate Hollywood’s most famous Waltonian Dame Julie Andrews throughout the month of October and we hope some more will happen throughout her 90th birthday year!

Art lovers, from the 1st to the 5th of October you can catch The Colourists — a newly formed collective of local artists — making their debut at the Riverhouse Barn. It’s the perfect chance to discover fresh creativity right here in Walton.

And of course, Walton will be embracing the spooky season. There will be a Halloween Kids Club with The Button Hole Press — we are yet to announce the craft activity, but you can be assured it will be Spooktacular! You can take part in Halloween pottery painting at the Crafty Pots Cafe. Check out their website for more details.

On the blog, we will be marking two important awareness days. For World Mental Health Day, we will share advice and insights from Maria Lonergan Counselling on prioritising mental health in the workplace. For World Sight Day, we will shine a light on Walton’s brilliant opticians — Carmelo Castiglione, Eyeworks, Vision Express and Specsavers.

Looking ahead to November, SAVE the DATE for our annual Christmas celebration which will be taking place on Saturday 29th November 2025 – be sure to follow us to find out more details.

Stay connected on our socials, visit our blog, and most importantly — get out and enjoy everything our town has to offer. See you next month on the Local Lowdown!
