Hello and welcome to your September Local Lowdown for Walton-on-Thames.

We’re heading into autumn, but there’s still plenty happening in our town this month…

First up – football fans. Don’t miss the chance to cheer on our local team. Walton & Hersham FC have two home games at the Xcel Sports Hub – on Saturday the 6th September and Tuesday the 9th September.

From Wednesday the 17th to Saturday the 20th, “Big Fish” is on at the Playhouse. Brought to you by the Lyric Players, it’s based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton.

Over at The Heart, the Walton Art Club will be running a pop-up exhibition from 26th to 28th September. It’s a fantastic chance to enjoy the work of talented local artists.

On Saturday the 27th, Origin Pilates are inviting you to a FREE Open Day & Wellness event. This is to officially celebrate the launch of the business! There will be some exclusive offers on the day. Spaces will be limited, so keep and eye on their socials!

This month, we’re also shining a spotlight on some of the regular events that happen:

The Repair Café at Walton Community Centre runs on the second Saturday of every month, helping you fix household items rather than throwing them away.

The Baby Brunch Club is on every Wednesday morning at The Walton Village – a great way for parents and little ones to meet.

And if you fancy something a bit different, try Open Tuesdays at Walton Bowling Club – the perfect opportunity to give bowls a go in a friendly setting.

September is also awards month for our business community. The Walton BID Business Awards are coming up soon – but remember, the deadline to cast your votes is 31st August. Winners will be announced later in September, so keep an eye on our channels for the big reveal.

Finally, last month we celebrated International Dog Day on our blog – and it reminded us how many wonderful dog-friendly businesses we have here in Walton. From cafés to shops, it’s easy to enjoy the town with your four-legged friend by your side.

That’s all for this month’s Local Lowdown. For full details and updates, don’t forget to check our What’s On page on the website!
