Meet the Business: Mooboo Walton-on-Thames

We recently visited Mooboo Walton-on-Thames to meet Phi Dang, the new owner of the popular bubble tea shop in The Heart. Having taken ownership in November 2024, Phi is excited to bring his passion for quality and consistency to the bustling town centre.

Mooboo Walton

A Local Business with Family Roots

Phi and his family have lived in nearby Addlestone since 2015. With two school-aged children, they often visit Walton for its fantastic mix of family-friendly dining, shopping, and the beautiful riverside.

“There is definitely more choice for younger children and families here in Walton than Weybridge or Addlestone,” says Phi.

“We love eating out at Wagamama’s or Nandos with the children. Everything is compact and close together, which makes it so convenient. We also love the Riverside—feeding the ducks, going to the parks, and walking along the towpath is great for both physical and mental health.”

Phi is no stranger to running a business—he also owns Coco Nails & Beauty in Weybridge. Many of his nail salon clients now pop into Walton for their favourite bubble tea, and he actively cross-promotes both businesses to introduce more people to what each has to offer.

What is Bubble Tea?

Bubble tea, or boba tea, originated in Taiwan in the 1980s and has since become a global sensation. It’s a unique drink that combines tea (or sometimes milk or fruit-based blends) with chewy tapioca pearls or fruit-filled popping bubbles, making it as much a textural experience as a refreshing beverage. Mooboo offers a vast range of customisable options, from classic milk teas to fruit teas, slushes, and matcha lattes, so there’s something for every taste. Whether you love your drink creamy and indulgent or light and fruity, bubble tea is an exciting and interactive way to enjoy a drink.

Mooboo

Bringing Bubble Tea to Walton

Bubble tea has soared in popularity in recent years, and Mooboo is one of the UK’s leading brands, known for its high-quality ingredients and vast range of flavours. When the opportunity arose to take over the Walton franchise in late 2024, Phi jumped at the chance. “I love talking to my customers and helping them find their perfect drink,” he says. “Bubble tea is such a fun, customisable experience, and I wanted to make sure Walton had a place where people could enjoy that.”

Consistency and quality are at the heart of Phi’s approach. “With a well-known brand like Mooboo, people know what to expect, and it’s important to deliver that every time.”

“Your satisfaction is our success—that’s my mantra in both of my businesses.”

Embracing Change with Delivery Services

One of the first major steps Phi has taken since taking over Mooboo Walton is embracing delivery services – having already introduced Uber Eats and Just Eat for home delivery. “The way people shop and eat has changed, and we need to keep up,” he explains. “By offering bubble tea for delivery, we’re making it even easier for our customers to enjoy their favourite drinks from the comfort of their homes.”

Supporting the Local Community

Phi is also keen to integrate Mooboo into the wider Walton community. He is excited to collaborate with Love Walton and the Walton BID, supporting town centre events, trails, and activities. “It’s all about partnership—what you put in, you get back. We want to be part of what makes Walton such a great place to visit and shop.”

With his passion for great customer service, strong family values, and a commitment to the local economy, Phi Dang is making Mooboo a must-visit destination in Walton-on-Thames. Whether you’re a long-term bubble tea lover or a complete newcomer, stop by to discover your perfect blend!
