Meet the Business: Connect FMH Charity Shop
Nestled in the heart of Walton-on-Thames, Connect Charity Shop is more than just a place to find a hidden gem or a great bargain. It’s a community hub where generosity and kindness flourish, creating a space where everyone is welcome.

Building Connections in Walton
We recently caught up with Roseann Connolly, who has been at the helm of Connect Charity Shop for the past four years. When asked what she loves most about Walton, Roseann spoke fondly of the people and the river — two elements that make this town feel so special. “I love walking along the riverbank and soaking in the sounds and sights,” she shared.
When she has a moment to relax, you might find her at The Boathouse for a coffee or enjoying the riverside atmosphere at The Swan.
Generosity Grows Community
The story of Connect Charity Shop is one of compassion and connection.
“Walton is a very mixed area in terms of demographic,” Roseann explained. “There are a lot of kind, generous people who donate goods they no longer want, and there are also quite a few people in need. Put the two together, and that’s good for a charity shop.”
But Connect is more than just a shop — it’s a family. “Our prices are very keen, and our service is second to none,” Roseann said with pride. The shop is powered by a diverse group of volunteers, each bringing their own skills, stories, and warmth to the space.
“All volunteers are amazing! Connect’s volunteers are extraordinary. We couldn’t do what we do without them.”
Overcoming Challenges
Running a charity shop isn’t always easy, but Roseann and her team have faced challenges head-on. “Surviving the pandemic was a huge achievement for us,” she reflected. “It really brought out kindness in action, supporting the Walton community to support itself.“
More Than a Shop
What sets Connect apart is the sense of belonging it offers. Whether you’re popping in to browse, donate, or volunteer, there’s a warmth that greets you at the door. Roseann summed up their philosophy simply: “Generosity grows community.” It’s a mantra that flows through everything they do.
Connect Foundation for Mental Health (registered charity number 802695) aims to relieve and rehabilitate people in the UK suffering from mental illness by providing opportunities for therapeutic activities.
“Generosity grows community.”
